O-ringHow to reasonably design the groove size of O-ring
1. O-ring its own advantages:
1)O-ring light weight, the occupied space is small, can be applied to a wide range of pressure, temperature and clearance occasions;
2)O-ring is suitable for a variety of different sealing media;
3)O-ring is easy to repair and not easy to damage;
4)O-ring function failure is generally gradual, and easy to find and identify;
5) The O-ring has high wear resistance, and the O-ring sealing surface has automatic elastic compensation function after wear;
6) The O-ring has a long service life, and the aging period of the O-ring material can be reached under the correct use conditions;
7)O-rings are suitable for a variety of sealing forms. O-rings can be used for rotary motion, axial reciprocating motion or combined motion.
2. How to reasonably design the groove size of O-ring

The O-ring in the groove will deform under the pressure of the medium, and the edge of the O-ring will flow into the gap position to achieve the sealing function of the O-ring. The greater the pressure on the O-ring, the greater the deformation of the O-ring, and the better the sealing effect of the O-ring. When the pressure on the O-ring exceeds its limit, the O-ring will be squeezed into the gap, causing the O-ring seal to fail. For this reason, the O-ring groove design must be reasonably matched with the relationship between O-ring hardness, working pressure and clearance tolerance. And when designing the O-ring groove, the O-ring groove gap should be as small as possible. In actual operation, it is inevitable to encounter a large gap in the O-ring groove. In order to prevent the O-ring from being squeezed into the gap, consideration should be given to using materials with strong extrusion resistance and good dimensional stability to make O-rings, such as polyurethane O-rings.
3. O-Ring Use and O-Ring Storage-Precautions
1)O-rings are generally not reusable;
2) When the O-ring is installed in the groove, be careful not to twist the O-ring;
3) When installing the O-ring, consider coating the sealing medium on the groove and the O-ring;
4) Try not to open the original package of the O-ring when the O-ring is not in use to avoid dust or mixing on the O-ring
Foreign matter may cause damage to the O-ring;
5)O-ring should avoid direct sunlight or placed near the boiler and other high-temperature heat sources to avoid aging of the O-ring;
6)O-ring should avoid strapping and hanging on the needle or metal wire to avoid O-ring deformation and lip end damage;
7) It should be noted that the O-ring will occasionally change color during storage, that is, white powder will be generated on the surface of the O-ring,
This does not adversely affect the function of the O-ring.
