Dongguan silicone products factory to tell you what factors related to the heat resistance of silica gel?
Silicone ProductsThe heat resistance in air is much better than that of organic silica gel. Its physical and mechanical properties are basically unchanged at 150 ℃ and can be used semi-permanently. It can be used continuously for more than 10000h at 200 ℃ and can be used in sections at 380 ℃. Therefore, silica gel is widely used as a silicone component used in high temperature occasions.
When silica gel products are oxidized in the air (with oxygen) at high temperature, due to the oxidation of methyl groups, the products gradually become hard and even crack. When heated in a closed system, the depolymerization reaction mainly occurs, which makes the product soft and loses its mechanical strength. The heat resistance of silica gel is not only related to the type of raw rubber, vinyl content (crosslinking density), heat-resistant additives, the type and amount of filler, but also related to the pH value and water content of the mixture.
Therefore, the choice of raw rubber polymerization catalyst, the neutralization of residual catalyst after reaction, the choice of filler such as silica and structure control agent are very attention. Heat resistant grade of silica gel, at high temperature (>250 ℃) conditions, the hardness increased slowly, tensile strength and elongation at break decreased slowly. Cold resistance due to the molecular structure of silicone rubber is non-crystalline, so the temperature has little effect on its performance, and has good cold resistance. Generally, the embrittlement temperature of organic silica gel is -20 ℃ to -30 ℃, while the embrittlement temperature of general silica gel products is -60 ℃ to -70 ℃. When 7.5(mol)% phenyl groups are introduced into the raw rubber, the embrittlement temperature of the silica gel can be reduced to -115°C, and the elasticity is maintained at -90°C and can be used.

Weather-resistant silica gel has no unsaturated bond in the main chain, and the Si-O-Si bond is very stable to oxygen, ozone and ultraviolet light, so it does not need any additives, which has excellent weather resistance. When corona discharge occurs in ozone, the organic silica gel is quickly aged, so the effect on silica gel is not serious. Exposed to ultraviolet rays and wind and rain for a long time, its physical and mechanical properties have not changed much. After decades of outdoor exposure tests, no cracks or degradation of aging phenomena such as stickiness have been found.
Water vapor resistance silica gel resistance to low pressure water vapor (below 130 ℃) performance is quite good, it is soaked in warm water and boiling water for a long time, the volume increase is less than 1%, and rarely affect its mechanical properties and electrical characteristics. However, water vapor above 140 ° C is easy to cause the Si-O-Si main chain to break, so that the physical and mechanical properties of silica gel are rapidly reduced. The water vapor resistance of silica gel is related to the type and amount of filler, crosslinking density and the type of vulcanizing agent.
Silica gel has excellent heat resistance, cold resistance, dielectric, ozone resistance and resistance to atmospheric aging and other properties, silica gel outstanding performance is the use of wide temperature, can be in -60 ℃ (or lower temperature) to 250 ℃ (or higher temperature) under long-term use. However, the mechanical properties such as tensile strength and tear strength of silica gel are poor, so silica gel is not suitable for ordinary conditions, but it is very suitable for many specific occasions. It has excellent physiological inertia, non-toxic, tasteless, non-corrosive, anti-coagulation, good compatibility with the body, and can withstand harsh disinfection conditions.
