Auxiliary seals are a type of seal produced by auxiliary mechanical seals. The mechanical seal of the auxiliary seal can be classified in several ways:
1. Inner seal and outer seal; if the maintained liquid pressure acts in the direction of "closing", at this time any leakage comes from the outer diameter of the seal, the mechanical seal is called the inner type. In an outboard mechanical seal, the liquid pressure acts in the "open" direction, and any leakage comes from the inner diameter of the seal. 2. Unbalanced seals and balanced seals; pressure balance refers to the relationship between the pressure of the sealing liquid and the contact pressure between the sealing surfaces. In the case of an unbalanced seal, the liquid pressure is not relieved by the geometric switching of the sealing surfaces, so that the contact pressure of the surfaces is equal to or greater than the liquid pressure. In balanced seals, the design is such that the combined radial distribution areas are such that the effective contact pressure is always less than the liquid pressure. Very small surface pressures usually give an effective seal.
