Rubber seals, usually what we call rubber, refers to the latex collected from the rubber tree, which is made of solid material by coagulation, drying and other processing procedures. Rubber is a polymer compound with polyisoprene as the main component, the molecular formula is (C5H8)n, its rubber hydrocarbon (polyisoprene) content is more than 90%, and it also contains a small amount of protein, fatty acid, sugar and ash.
Physical properties of rubber. Rubber has high elasticity at room temperature, slightly plastic, has very good mechanical strength, hysteresis loss is small, and heat generation is low during multiple deformations, so its flexibility resistance is also very good, and because it is non-polar rubber, So the electrical insulation performance is good. Rubber seal material, with plastic, fiber and known as the three synthetic materials, is a highly scalable and excellent elasticity of polymer materials.
The rubber seal material is characterized by a very small elastic modulus and a high elongation. The second is that it has quite good resistance to air permeability and resistance to various chemical media and electrical insulation. Some special synthetic rubber has good oil resistance and temperature resistance, can resist the swelling of fatty oil, lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, fuel oil and solvent oil; cold resistance can be as low as -60 ℃ ~-80 ℃, heat resistance can be as high as 180 ℃ ~ 350 ℃.
Rubber is also resistant to various bending, bending deformation, because the hysteresis loss is small. The third feature of the rubber seal material is that it can be used, blended, and compounded with a variety of materials, and thus modified to obtain good overall performance.
