What are the functional characteristics of the dust ring of hydraulic equipment
The main function of the dust ring is to remove dust, sand, rain and frost attached to the external surface of the reciprocating piston rod, and prevent external dust and rain from entering the sealing mechanism. The dust ring should be a sharp lip type structure with a low coefficient of friction.
This can prevent external dust from entering the system and reduce the wear of the equipment. Secondly, the dust ring and auxiliary sealing function, the inner lip scrapes the oil film adhered to the surface of the piston rod, thereby improving the sealing effect. The dust ring can remove any dust on the surface of the piston rod without damaging the oil film on the piston rod, and it is also good for the lubrication of the seal.
When the dust ring is designed, it must not only adapt to the piston rod, but also play a sealing role in the trench.
Dynamic function: a high hardness of the elastic and effective dust ring, the contact force of the lip with respect to the piston rod must be large enough. Polyurethane is a particularly suitable material for dust rings, which has high hardness, excellent wear resistance and low compressibility.
Static function: A non-reinforced single-acting dust ring designed for closed installation grooves, it is difficult to play an effective sealing role in the grooves.
This is due to the loose fitting of such a dust collar in the groove. Only the contact of the sealing lip with the piston rod provides the sealing force of the dust collar with the cylindrical surface. When the temperature decreases, the dust ring will shrink, and there will be leakage between its outer diameter and the groove. This time must be compensated in the dust ring specification design.
