The performance and reliability of the o-ring and sealing device are important indicators to measure the quality of system design and manufacturing. If the seal is improper, it will cause the internal and external leakage of the components and the system, which will not only reduce the volumetric efficiency of the system, but also make the system unable to work if the pressure is not established; in addition, the leakage will contaminate the equipment and pollute the environment. Therefore, the correct use of sealing ring is very important to ensure the normal operation of the machine.
The main reasons for the failure of O-ring:
1. Sealing groove design is unreasonable;
2.O-ring is incompatible with the medium used;
3. The size of the O-ring is not selected correctly;
4.O-ring seal is not fully lubricated.

1.O-ring is flat after use

2.O-ring seal is worn
① The reason for this failure mode is mostly in seals with relative movement and vibration,
It can be judged by observing the wear of the contact part between the sealing ring and the sliding surface. The main reason is: the sliding surface of the seal is rough,

3.O-ring heat hardening and oxidation

4. Protruding, biting and spiral failure of O-ring

The sealing ring material does not meet the design hardness requirements, and the processing size of the sealing groove of the sealing ring does not meet the standard requirements,
