The fracture of the O-ring mostly appears in the surfacing sealing ring. The O-ring is a surface rubber sealing ring with a circular cross-section. Its cross-section is O-shaped, so it is called O-ring. It is a kind of seal widely used in hydraulic and pneumatic sealing systems. When the material of the sealing ring is brittle, but there is no strict compliance with welding specifications and heat treatment, it is easy to produce stress cracks. Or improper materials, structural design does not meet the system temperature and pressure, can also cause fracture phenomenon. In the use of the process, the sealing surface is also prone to hydrogen embrittlement and other cracks.
So O-ring fracture can also repair it? A clear answer is yes, first of all to carefully remove the cracks, even if a little crack should be clear and clean, see the body gloss, no defects so far. Remove excess dust, apply good plastic electrode backing, and then trim the pile. If the surfacing crack tendency is large, the surfacing bottom layer adopts a transition layer with good plasticity to prevent cracks on the surface layer. In the welding repair, short arc should be used as much as possible to reduce the heat affected area and prevent the deformation of the sealing surface of the (sealing ring). Preheat before surfacing and repair welding, keep warm and cool after welding, prevent excessive wind in the middle, and protect the sealing surface of welding. After slow cooling, and then processing forming.
The sealing ring must be filled with professional welding tools, and the effect will be better. Ammonia is a protective gas, which is not absorbed by metal and welding wire, and the alloy in metal and welding wire is not burned and swept. The heat affected zone is small, which does not cause slag and pores in the surfacing layer, and the deformation is small. The welding nozzle and the sealing surface maintain a large or vertical angle, so that the solution is always placed under the protection of gram gas. The welding torch should swing to a certain extent and the wire feeding should be uniform. At the end of surfacing repair welding, a little more welding wire should be added. Then slowly pull open, defend the gun at the same time, after the molten pool is slightly cold, stop the air supply to complete the repair.
Design of O-ring Groove

O-ring installed in the groove, in order to ensure its sealing performance, should be reserved for an initial compression. The greater the pressure on the O-ring and the greater the deformation of the O-ring, the better the sealing effect will be obtained. If the O-ring is subjected to pressure beyond its bearing capacity, the O-ring will deform and squeeze into the gap, which will cause air and liquid leakage to cause sealing failure.
For this reason, the O-ring groove design must be reasonably matched with the relationship between the hardness of the O-ring, the working pressure and the gap tolerance. The design gap in the O-ring groove should be as small as possible. In order to avoid the O-ring being squeezed into the gap, the material O-ring with good extrusion resistance and dimensional stability should be considered. Use and storage of O-ring:
(1)O-ring generally can not be reused, and the pressure increases, there will be permanent plastic deformation;
(2)O-ring into the groove, be careful not to twist;
(3)O-ring installation, can be coated with sealing related media;
(4) Do not open the outer packaging of the unused O-ring to prevent dust from adhering;
(5)O-ring preservation should be placed in a cool, dry environment to prevent rubber aging;
(6)O-ring discoloration or deformation should not be used.
