What isO-ring seal,The O-ring seal is a moderately compressed O-shaped (circular) seal ring installed in a groove. It can be used as a seal for various fluids such as oil, water, air, and gas. There are two types of usage: stationary and moving.
Characteristics of O-rings
1, the required installation space is small. The shape and structure of the installation part of the O-ring can be designed to be extremely simple, so that the machine is miniaturized and lightweight.
2, the use of simple O-ring shape and installation parts can be very simplified, easy to install and remove.
3, can be used in a wide range. According to the selected applicable rubber material, it has stable sealing performance in water, oil and air, even in various gases and chemicals, and can be used in the temperature range of -60~220 ℃.
4, the variety is rich and inexpensive with fully qualified for various uses of standardized materials, rich size series, easy to select and obtain, and cheap. Materials for O-rings The required performance of materials for O-rings is due to the pressure generated by O-rings during extrusion, which exerts a sealing function. The basic performance required is to maintain a moderate stress within a range that does not cause abnormal deformation. This basic performance requires that it will not be lost during use. Synthetic rubber is the most excellent material with this property.
However, the performance of a certain material cannot cover all the performance that is difficult to solve. Therefore, the corresponding materials should be selected according to various uses.
The correct usage of O-ring
1. The relationship between O-ring diameter (wire diameter) and compression set. Under the condition of a certain compression rate, the permanent deformation is small when the diameter is large, and the stable sealing can be obtained by using the O-ring with large diameter. Especially when used as a dynamic seal, a large cut diameter has the effect of preventing twisting.
2. The use of O-rings at high pressure is due to the compressive stress of the material and the sealing function. In addition, the effect of safety sealing is exerted by the pressure of the sealing fluid. Therefore, the limit of pressure should be considered in principle. The actual use of the O-ring will inevitably generate the pressure of the sealing medium fluid and keep the O-ring from being squeezed into the function. Therefore, the pressure resistance of the actual O-ring is determined by the relationship between the mechanical strength (hardness as a representative value) of the material and the clearance.
When the retaining ring is under pressure from two directions, the retaining ring can be installed on both sides of the O-ring at the same time. When under pressure from one direction, install a retaining ring on the opposite side of the pressure. The shape of the retaining ring has two kinds of ring type and oblique cut type. From the use effect, the ring shape has the best effect. From the point of view of easy installation, it is easy to bevel.
3. The use of cylindrical static seals for different purposes Even if O-rings and groove sizes are used according to JIS standards, vertical relaxation of the inner diameter of the groove occurs due to the combination of allowable size differences. Please do not bite O-rings during installation. Plane static seal Plane static seal can withstand the occasion of internal pressure
(a) and external pressure (B) two categories.
In the case of (a) for internal pressure, the outer diameter D of the O-ring is fitted in principle.
In the case of external pressure (B), in principle, the inner diameter of the O-ring is matched. Since the crush rate is usually not a problem during installation, it can be considered as the elongation of the bolt and the deformation of the flange surface after the pressure is greater than the cylindrical static seal.
(C) the occasion, because there is no attachment with the wall sometimes due to pressure changes and wear or fall off, please do not use. When the inner diameter is relatively large (above 150) and the cut diameter is relatively small (below 3), the clamping and a part of the O-ring are cut to the edge, in order to prevent flying out, a thicker cut diameter can be used.

The O-ring used in the vacuum flange is sealed in the vacuum appliance. Compared with the general hydraulic pressure, the following points should be paid attention. In the O ring of the vacuum appliance, because the sealing medium is gas, compared with the liquid, it is easy to leak from the gap of the contact surface, so please pay great attention to the surface roughness of the contact part.
The rubber material is not selected with the vacuum degree. The gas penetrates through the rubber and disperses the additive from the surface of the rubber material without maintaining the vacuum degree. Triangular grooves are used to simplify the machine. Sometimes triangular grooves (also known as chamfered grooves) are used.
D, d size, please take the size of the groove in the size table of the d, d value. In addition, please choose 1.3~1.4W(W: cut diameter of o-ring) for size g. when it is used to withstand internal pressure, the size of d is within a relatively small range (less than about 30), and sometimes it is not suitable for installation. it is more convenient for size d to be slightly larger (about 0.2~0.3mm larger). Pneumatic seal 1. When oiling, one O-ring can be used for piston seal. Considering the service life and sealing performance, two O-rings are recommended.
It is recommended to use one O-ring and one dust seal for the piston rod seal, and apply lubricating oil between the O-ring and dust seal. 2. When the piston seal is not filled with oil, two O-rings can be used, and the O-rings are coated with grease as lubricant.
The piston rod seal shall be subject to the use of oil injection. 4. Precautions in Design Clearance and Squeezing Gap The O-ring squeezes the gap at the groove part, which is determined by the pressure and clearance of the fluid and the hardness of the rubber,
(Its value is obtained by the pressure when the cylinder is not expanded, and the diameter gap at high pressure can be designed at about 75% of this value). From the perspective of sealing function, the minimum compression allowance is about 8%, and the maximum value is about 30% of the rubber compression permanent deformation. When using O-rings, please refer to the groove size of the groove surface roughness in the size table.
